Applications are invited for postdoctoral positions funded by the new ERC Consolidator Grant "Ultimate Precision Generation of Recursive Events AT the Large Hadron Collider" (UPGREAT-LHC) of Marius Wiesemann in the Theory Group of the Max Planck Institute for Physics. We expect to be able to fill up to two postdoctoral appointments with a tentative starting date in Fall 2026.
The appointments will be initially for two years, with the possibility of a third-year extension. The salary is competitive and it corresponds to the annual gross salary following the German TVöD (E13) scale, with the level adjusted by years of professional experience. The scientific focus of the UPGREAT-LHC project is the development of a new generation of Monte Carlo event generators to derive robust and reliable predictions for the Large Hadron Collider. The project spans over a variety of collider topics, including precision calculations, resummation, and event generation, but please do not hesitate to contact me for any further information under marius.wiesemann@mpp.mpg.de.
The Max Planck Society strives for gender equality and diversity. The Max Planck Society is committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals. Furthermore, the Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply
Applications should be submitted via this page. Applicants must upload a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a brief description of their research interests and plans, and provide names and e-mail addresses of three referees that will upload their reference letters. Optionally, applicants may provide a cover letter, but the field can also be left blank. The referees will receive personalized links for uploading the recommendation letters (no registration required). Be sure to provide correct e-mail addresses as bounces may not be detected immediately and will delay the application.
